Synk Icon

"Run as root" preference

Selecting this option and properly authenticating causes Synk to run as the superuser, bypassing all permissions and ownership issues. If Synk is currently running as root, the text "RUNNING AS ROOT" will appear in red letters at the bottom of all document windows.

WARNING: You should only use this option if absolutely necessary, as it gives Synk absolute power over all areas of your hard drive, including the protected system areas. It is possible to render Mac OS X inoperable through misuse of this option, requiring a reinstall. You should be especially careful in configuring your documents, and the use of the preview is highly encouraged until you are sure that you have configured everything properly.

Note that this option only applies to local drives. Only logging onto a server as the superuser of that server can give you this free access on a remote machine.
